Tomato Fans,
We are disappointed and sad to announce the cancellation of Flying Tomato Festival – Portland.
The reason for the cancellation is that we have not had enough sign-ups to justify the expense of putting on the event.
It is our hope that we can make adjustments to our branding and how our event is perceived – and that we can schedule a Flying Tomato event in Portland again at another time – but we don’t have those details worked out, so we have decided to simply refund all tickets and get back in touch with you in the future if it’s possible to try again.
Effective immediately we have closed registrations and are no longer accepting new ticket sales. In addition we have already issued refunds to all participants who used Active.com to register for the event. Active will refund your ticket purchase within the next couple of days. There is nothing you need to do to get your refund. You should also receive an email from Active. We are told that refunds can sometimes take several business days. If you don’t see your refund within 7 to 10 calendar days please contact us.
If you bought a ticket using Groupon or Living Social – we have been in contact with these third party companies to let them know the events will be cancelled and that they should issue all customers a refund. They don’t release your specific information to us – so you’ll need to contact Groupon or Living Social directly for a refund.
On a personal note the worst part about this is disappointing all the fans who were excited about the event… you – who bought a ticket.
Despite our best efforts to build an awesome brand, video, and amazing event – something hasn’t worked and we are trying to figure out just what. We have spent a lot of time and resources building and marketing FLYING TOMATO and it just hasn’t worked.
We would love to get your feedback on things that might have made a difference. Some of this might be feedback you have received from your friends.
